What is Sublimation Printing?

The process of Sublimation and the Advantages

What is Sublimation printing?

In simple terms, Sublimation printing is the process of printing sublimation ink onto sublimation transfer paper using a special printing machine.

The transfer paper is placed on the pre-cut fabric pattern and heat is applied by allowing the ink to become part of the fabric.

In the world of apparel, it`s a game changer that allow produces vibrant, all-over prints - designs that go seam-to-seam.

So how does sublimation work?

The design is printed onto a special transfer paper. The inks that are used turn into gas when brought under heat, then combine with the fabric it permanently print onto the fabric. Run your finger across the surface of a sublimated fabric and you will feel nothing but the fabric.

The ink has become part of the fabric rather than simply laying on top like a normal print.
The high temperature opens up the pores of the fabric, then with the applied pressure the ink cools and returns to a solid form.

The process allows the ink to go from a solid to a gas without turning to liquid, a bit like dry ice.

The result is permanent and ensures that your design will never, fade, peel or crack on the entire uniform.

Sublimation in the case of team uniforms & sportswear can only be done on 100% polyester fabrics or polyester blend fabrics.

Advantages of Sublimation:

Durability
Dye sublimation is a process in which colors and design elements are dyed directly into the fabric,
it gives the fabric a soft feel and stays permanent and do not detoriate as opposed to screen printing
Our sublimation process ensures that your design will never fade, peel, or crack on the entire uniform.

Functionality of Materials
Sublimated apparels are very lightweight and breathable. You don’t have the added weight of sewn-on tackle twill
decoration and you are not blocking the breathability of the fabric with sewn twill or screen printing ink.
These are comfortable to wear in hot weather as well.

Cost-effective
Sublimated apparels are very cost-effective compared to screen printed apparel and without added cost
you can add as much decoration as you want on the uniforms or jerseys.
It has ability to create all-over-print designs on your sublimated uniforms or jerseys.

Low Minimums
Sublimation printing have the added advantage of no minimum. You can order just a single item.
